| PROJECTS
Many students are active within the group by doing their thesis project within one of the groups research areas. Students do their work either within the group itself or (partially) at research departments within companies or institutions.
In Delft the research areas are:
- Data-driven approach: e.g. biomarker discovery, feature selection and prediction
- Model-driven approach: e.g. genetic network modelling, transcription factor models
- Integrative approach: integrating gene expression, protein interactions, GO ontology, motif search

One of the projects of the Imaging and Bioinformatics Group at the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS) is the production of a 3D digital atlas of zebrafish development. Starting point of the 3D reconstructions are sets of serial sections, that consist of microscope images. To acquire these images a computerised microscope set-up is being used.
